Introduction Part 2: Not-Electric-Boogaloo

✦ BASICS

Name/Nickname: Jeremie / Tingle

D.O.B: 05/21/1987

Location: WI, USA

Fun Fact(s):
#1: I've dabbled in voice acting a bit over the past few years and officially am credited as the narrator to a short story for an LGBTQ+ positive martial arts fantasy novel. It's not very long and hasn't brought me any notariety, but it's cool to think that something professionally published has my name on it!

#2: Until December of 2020 I was suffering through an art slump that lasted around 10 - 12 years. V-Tubers were my primary source of inspiration to draw again and I've mostly done fanart over the course of 2021, but have managed to start refreshing some old OC's, as well as creating new ones! This year has been huge for me creatively. ❤️

Hobbies/Interests: I'm a HUGE fan of a lot of Anime and Manga adjacent media. This includes Tokusatsu productions (Things like Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, and Ultraman), Manhwa and Manhua, and very selective novels. I primarily read action and adventure stories and very much have a desire to put my own content out there. Art has taken over my life for the most part over the past couple of years, so I haven't been gaming nearly as much as I did back in the day, but I still list games as some of my biggest inspirations.

Dream Job: I'd love to support myself with my stories. Considering the experience that I do have, I'd love to write, illustrate, and narrate my own novels. If I could support myself off of my creativity and passions it would be a dream come true. I tripped up and wallowed in my lack of growth for way too long, but my growth over the past year has shown me that it's not impossible!

✦ ART

Favorite Medium: Digital. It's the easiest medium for me to work with that allows me to achieve the kinds of results I want. I still have a soft spot for traditional pencil, paper, and pen but have very much fallen out of practice with them.

Favorite Subject: I've been drawing V-Tubers that I have inspired me over the past year, but I'm not sure I'd say it's my favorite subject. It primarily gets note because the whole V-Tubing trend was what got me back into art in the first place and the streamers that I've interacted with have helped keep me inspired to keep drawing.

As a writer/reader I'd say that I absolutely love this LitRPG / Isekai / Reverse Isekai craze that has sprung up in the past decade or so. Contemporary fantasy or Future Fantasy has always been my jam. Seeing fantasy elements in the modern day world? Freakin' awesome. Lets keep that going.

Favorite Period of Art: I'd have to say the current period. Art has never been more accessible and easier to get into than it is today. As someone who loves to read comics, I have a deluge of things I can take in. The stylization done in so many of the things I read very much appeals to me.

How Long Have You Been Creating: I started drawing around the time I was 8 to 10. I used to record old episodes of Sailor Moon on VHS and pause the TV to draw scenes that I thought were cool!

How You Learned: I didn't start taking art seriously as something I wanted to do until I was about 12, and it was literally because I'd been exposed to so much anime and cool cartoons. I wanted to do something with regard to illustration (back then it was becoming an animator). I ended up finding anime art on the internet, printing them out, and trying to redraw them. Video Game Manuals, Manga, VHS recordings, Key Visuals, nothing was safe from my copying spree! Unfortunately I ended up hitting a wall this way because I was ignoring my fundamentals.

When I picked up my pen again last year I became determined to fix all of the problems I had with my own artwork and I've been doing a lot of self study via YouTube videos. Marc Brunet's YouTube channel has been one of the greatest sources of guidance for me!

How Long It Usually Takes You to Make Something: If I had to put it into an hour count, I would say probably somewhere around 16 - 20 hours. I'm actively working to try and streamline my process. My full time job makes this pretty hard as I end up only getting a few hours a day before I'm interrupted, but I can proudly say that I've succeeded in reaching a point I would call "complete" on every illustration I started this year!

The Big Project You Haven't Gotten Around To Yet: I have 3 very big stories floating around in my head right now that I keep developing mentally, but have very little to show for it. All of them are novel series that I want to do illustrations and voice work for and part of my plans for the next year involve actively working on these more!
