These days, I'm mostly a digital artist. I want to be a game developer, so it just makes sense to me to focus on the skills most relevant to that. But I actually used to do most of my art in traditional media. Mostly colored pencils, and sometimes also ink for line art. It's had a lasting impact on my process, in fact: I usually do my rough sketches with pencil before scanning them into Photoshop and working digitally from there. Still, it's pretty rare for me to make thoroughly polished traditional art any more.
I have a tradition of drawing Elosii, this old mermaid OC of mine, once every Mermay. But it gets boring if I do that the same way every year, right? So it's an occasion when I like to experiment with different techniques or styles than normal. (Pretty fitting because Elosii herself is also super adventurous and loves trying new things!) I was curious how my current experience level would translate back to my older traditional art style, so that's the idea I went with this year.
