SheezyArt, SleazyArt, SkeezyArt, SneezyArt, SqueezyArt, CheesyArt...
Hi, Sheezy 2.0! How ya doin? I'm gonna do one of those intro meme thingies because I want to feel like a teenager on Old Sheezy again.
BASICS
name/nickname: Alex or Lutz. They're just my name and surname. You can also call me Bug.
gender: androgyne/nonbinary woman
pronouns: she/her
age: 28
location: central Illinois
single or taken: Married to another artist. We don't have a human child but we have a pitbull named Nora who is a chronic bread loaf thief
Fun fact: I have purple hair IRL
hobbies/interests: Drawing, writing, making comics, retro design, birds, liminal spaces, psychology, 70s/80s horror, surrealism. I make tie dye sometimes.
dream job: I've been trying to break into the design field since last year, but I graduated in 2020 and the pandemic did me dirty. Still trying, though. After being around the block a few times, I just want something that will financially support my comic while giving me enough time to work on it. As of right now, I work at a deli because I need to keep the lights on.
ART
favorite medium: I draw on the iPad with Procreate exclusively these days. However, I used to draw with nothing but traditional tools. I have experience with India ink, marker, oil paint, charcoal, watercolor, and more.
favorite subject: My work usually revolves around mental illness, isolation, surrealism, and strange humor. I like things that are creepy and dark, but still funny and weird.
favorite artists/inspiration: Edward Gorey, Reid Miles, Sally Cruikshank, Stan Sakai, Jim Woodring, Victor Moscoso, Rory Hayes, Jhonen Vasquez, and many more. I always forget names when I fill these out. I'm also heavily inspired by retro aesthetics, kitsch, old magazine ads, 90s Nicktoons, and interior design.
favorite period of art: Mid-century, psychedelic, 70s sci fi art, early modern, Surrealism
piece you're the most proud of: my entire Krazy Noodle Massacre comic
how long you've been creating: 25 years, so pretty much my entire life. I've been taking commissions for about a year now. Krazy Noodle Massacre has been in the works for 6 years.
how you learned: I have degrees in graphic design and painting, but I still had to figure out a lot of stuff on my own. When I was younger, I taught myself by studying art books and other artists. I look at things critically and think about what makes it work, or works against it. I also study movies for composition and framing.
how long it usually takes you to make something: Multiple hours across several sittings.
the big project you haven't got around to yet: I'm already in the middle of The Big One. Sometimes I take it for granted that I'm already working on that huge comic project and not just daydreaming about it. Krazy Noodle Massacre is already approaching 100 pages. I'm on a between-chapters hiatus because I'm preparing pages for chapter 3, but it will be back before the end of the year.
I'm not tagging anyone. Go hog wild.
im in love with your art style; it has SO much character. it gives me "random surrealist panel in an otherwise bubbly cartoon show" vibes and im here for it <3
