{ Hearing her apologize for what he had been through sent a strange jolt through his chest. His heart squeezed and felt suddenly heavy. And then she opened her arms for him, and he could do nothing other than slowly lean forward, pressing his face a little awkwardly into her shoulder.

He stared beyond her for a moment, into the dim light of his room. She knew the absolute truth now, and she accepted him for it. She even seemed to understand, and empathize.

She had even apologized on behalf of the men who had shaped him.

Despite their previous admissions, this was it. This was the moment he was sure of it. She did love him, and he, in turn, loved her dearly.

He blinked away the wetness that had begun to blur his vision before nudging his face into the crook of her neck. One arm came up and his hand found its way to her opposite side, and he held on to the fabric of her dress tightly.

How he could he ever let her go?

"Thank you," was all he mumbled back. }
