if youre new here, this takes place at the end of part 1 of my story It's a Long Way Down. demonhand is VERY AWARE that offal """"secretly"""" has a thing for him, and honestly he feels the same way about them, but he pushes the feeling down and internalizes it because hes self-destructive and is attempting to return to his crappy life back on earth because he has these weird irrational beliefs about where he belongs

to him, he was born on earth, so he HAS to be on earth. rhun is too good for him, he doesnt deserve it, he feels guilty when hes happy on rhun so he tries to go back to his crappy life on earth where he was a homeless young adult who had just ran away from his abusive family. at least then everything is simple

so yeah. for the week they spend at the city of libraries, demonhand attempts to distance himself from offal so it hurts less when he finally goes back to earth. he feels horrible about this and feels horrible about the entire situation, but hes just so... screwed up after living life the way he did for so long. he doesnt know how to be nice to himself or others yet

but good news is, offal kinda freaks out at the last minute and calls him out and is like "i love you you stupid idiot stop punishing yourself and your friends for literally no reason bro stop fr stoppppppppp" and then hes like. "wait what? i . i can   i can stay? im. im allowed"? and theyre like " literally what is the matter with you

yeah its more coherent than that. this was actually a warm up of sorts, because i was thinking of remaking this stupid cringey ANCIENT comic i did of that scene? except not playing it as a joke, but also all in watercolor. maybe in the style of a zine , where i fold the paper in half and staple it down the middle and you can flip thru the pages? i was thinking of doing the whole scene and thatd require a good few pages so i figured maybe i should do it in that style huh? and i wanted to try out pink tones only because that scene is just AWASH with bright fuschia because of the giant pink portal right behind them. yeah.
