09/19/24Uzi dug through her closet, looking through her meager wardrobe for something suitable to wear to Thad’s party. It was a celebration of the world not being eaten, so she figured she should wear something a bit nicer than her usual, a-little-more-than-slightly oilstained hoodie. She’d been too busy turning into an awesome eldritch vampire abomination and saving the world lately to scavenge for new clothes, and before that she was too busy looking for parts for her railgun, so the closet didn’t really have much to offer. Most of it was old clothes, too small for her adult body, or items clearly picked by her out-of-touch father to meet the bare minimum requirement of clothing her. Far too girly, of course. She groaned in exasperation, unsure why she even bothered looking when she already knew every item she owned. Really, she was just delaying the inevitable, trying to magically uncover something more suitable to wear than... that dress. The dress she wore to prom. It wasnt really because of the baggage attached, because sure, prom was when all the solver bullshit really started to go down, but that had made her life a lot better, trauma and annoying demon sharing her processor aside. No, it was because.. despite being the closest to her style her dad had ever gotten, something about it just felt.. off. She didnt feel like.. herself when she wore it, somehow, and her beanie could only help so much. She didnt have time to find something else, though, so she’d just have to settle for it. Uzi pulled up the garment, shuddering as the poofy skirt settled around her legs. It was a cute dress, really, she wasn’t sure why she didn’t like it. She grabbed the zipper on the back with her solver, zipping it up with ease. It had been a struggle last time, reaching backwards awkwardly and trying not to dislocate her ball joints in Doll’s creepy crimson-drenched bathroom. She glanced over at the mirror, seeing.. an objectively cute goth girl who inexplicably *was not her. * Her tail popped out without her input. She clenched her fists and tensed up, irritated already. “Cute dress! Still think you should try a bow, though..” “Not happening. Can you at least try not to make this worse for me?” “Whatever do you mean? Innocent giggle.” The tail characteristically stuck out its tongue. Uzi rolled her eyes exaggeratedly. “I mean, you’re like, in my head, right? You know exactly what I mean.” “Noncommittal shrug. So, no bow?” “NO!!!!” Uzi’s stance oozed anger, she stared down the tail. “Annoyed. You never let me play dress-up with you. You are no fun.” “Yeah, well, get used to it, because you’re in MY body now. And I’m not letting a world-eating eldritch monster use me as its weird little doll, so BITE ME!” “Careful what you wish for. Ominous laugh.” The tail slowly retracted, looking somehow smug despite its limited ability to emote. Uzi pressed her palms into her visor firmly, letting out a frustrated growl that turned into a yell. Her conundrum with the dress was completely forgotten in the annoyance, she slammed her head against closed fists until she’d calmed down enough to storm out of her room.
