The authenticity of his demeanor can be debatable, but genuine or not, he strives to be a fun, pleasant person to be around. Enjoys being flirty and physically affectionate with most people, especially friends, though amusingly will clam up in embarrassment at earnest inquiry into his personal sex life. Slept around regularly before meeting Charles, and made an intentional effort not to sleep with the same person twice if he could help it.</p><p>Despite his warm, outgoing personality Victor actively endeavors to keep most folks at arms length and has few true, close connections (Charles, Sasha, and Gerry being his closest circle). A traditional Celtic pagan-style cult of the Lonely, the timing of Victor's birth marked him as intended to be an Avatar, destined for death when he'd come of age, a fact he was made plainly aware of from the moment he gained sentience.</p><p>Victor was named after his mother, Victeoiria, and was never told which member of the expansive household was his father (if the man was even still alive). He was all but ignored by every person in the house save his mother, who interacted with him with a cold, detached reverence for what he would one day be, leading to a twisted desperation for her attention and affection as she was the only one who regularly acknowledged him.</p><p>Due to the number of household members and their refusal to engage with him (unless to coldly stare him down in dead silence until he fled), Victor never managed to learn or grasp the names of any of his family, and struggled to recognize features and faces and suffered face blindness, which only cleared somewhat in adulthood. He was only rarely accompanied outside the manor (he was intentionally kept barefoot to hinder progress if he were to ever get outside) except visits to the cliffs with promises of what was to come – Victor never learned to swim and staunchly refused as an adult, suffering from severe aquaphobia. Frequently he was locked in a cramped, damp portion of the basement in the pitch dark, leading to him developing severe claustrophobia to boot. Looking back, it was a miracle he didn't succumb to a figurative Avatar death long before he escaped.</p><p>Through a series of strokes of blindingly good luck around his sixteenth birthday, Victor escaped his family and smuggled his way to England, eventually stumbling his way to London. A man caught him trying to steal food from a market stall and took him under his wing, housing, feeding, and teaching him to read and write in exchange for doing odd jobs and errands in the city, giving Victor a chance to learn the lay of the land. He learned at an alarming pace and read voraciously, absorbing everything and fully immersing himself in reading and research for every free moment.</p><p>Eventually his temporary guardian helped falsify documentation that allowed Victor to enroll in university, sinking his teeth into every class he could get into. He was on track for a BA in Mythology and Occultism but intentionally avoided taking the final two courses he needed, instead working his way through numerous other classes (world history, art history, geography, astronomy, linguistics, oceanography, cartography) at the college over the course of seven years.</p><p>A mangled, stray flyer stuck to his book bag advertised student internships at the Magnus Institute, and further altered the trajectory of his life. His first summer he met Charles fleeting as part of the mandatory security briefing, but wouldn't cross paths properly for almost three more years. He also met Gerry and Sasha during his first summer, and pursued a full-time job in the archives within a year.
