There's nothing good on TV. Some stupid superhero movies were playing, but I know the plot anyway. Some evil menace is destroying the world and some weirdos in latex/metal suits kill him, cause property damage, and occasionally one of them die.

One thing I hate more than stupid action movies is reality TV. No, I do not give a shit about some stupid rich-ass families fighting and abusing each other. I do not care about ugly "supermodels".

My roomie, Alex, is in her bedroom, blasting The Birthday Massacre songs on her CD player. I don't mind that type of music, but Alex needs to fucking turn her goth shit down. Our apartment is pretty cool but the soundproofing is the opposite. We can't afford somewhere with better soundproofing though.

I was drinking some water, when the doorbell rang.

Alex said, "You gonna get it, Soleil?"

I told her, "You're closer to the door. "

She just grunted at me and opened the door, and then, Joel came in, with some girl.

I saw him running towards Alex, hugging her. He said, "Alexandra! I haven't seen you for a long time!" He was covered in rain, but none of them seemed to care.

The girl came to the living room, and Joel said, "This girl is my sis, Karina. She's sweet but kind of obsessed with reality TV and other weird shit."

Joel later gave Alex a flirty look, and said "You look dangerous, in a good way."

Alexandra just shrugged and smiled, and then walked to the living room, sketching some goth outfits. Karina came up to her and admired the lava lamp, and acted like we were celebrities. I don't like her and she's only been here for, i don't know, 15 minutes?

“This place is so fancy,” she said. “You guys live here alone?” (Our apartment isn't that unique anyways)

Alexandra just said, "Just me and Soleil". She also seemed annoyed, but still friendly.

Karina then went through our DVD shelf like it's some sort of treasure. I can't stop her though.

"You like Camp Laguna? Oh, I love it so much! The drama, the love triangles, oh my gosh!"

Alex then stated, "That shit is for re-idiots with rotten brains. It's some scripted shit people pretend it's real, and everyone acts like it's some fucking gift from God himself."

Karina seemed to not really back down, as she later said, "You are no fun, girl. And besides, isn't that the whole point? You need to lighten up, emo."

Alex is not a person to have long debates about reality TV, so she just stopped talking, and grabbed some DVD in a plastic bag from one of her goth friends. It was some German slasher movie called "Call of the Wild". (English dubbed DVD, I've watched both the original version and English dub, and I think Alex prefers the original.)

Apparently, from what I read from movie sites, the movie is about some bear who gets killed by some demon, and wreaks havoc on some campers in the forest. That sounds pretty interesting.

Both girls were watching that movie together, and eating some caramel popcorn Joel made. Joel was mostly reading his journal filled with strange symbols. I talked to Joel for a bit, and he seems pretty chill, but not super interesting.

Karina then just said something that creeped me out. When asked if she liked horror, she said, “The more screaming, the better.” Her grin is fucking scary.

When Alex left the room, some weird glitch happened during the movie. While the bear was decapitating some ugly ass blondie, some weird symbol appeared and strange voices came out.

"...submit...to...angel of death...seek...love and protection..."

I asked, "Is that part of the movie?" She said, "Nah, it's probably something with the DVD or the TV.

Our TV sometimes glitches at times. We can't afford something better.

When Alexandra came back, she just enjoyed the movie like usual. I guess she's into that stuff. I don't know.

I later found his book on the kitchen table. I was tempted to read it. I've seen him write in it for 2 years. Joel doesn't want others to read it, but the temptation is too strong.

I found this in one of the pages.

"Goliath-her voice on the TV. Red pulses. Strange message about some angel of death. Message is strangely affectionate. Do not stare directly. I think I heard her mention 1979, the year she came into this world. Also when this movie came out."

I didn't understand much, but I couldn't read further because Joel got mad at me.

"Soleil, don't touch that! It's private."

I then felt super guilty for invading him and apologized. Joel appears to accept my apology. He then said, "It's really OK, Soleil. I don't hold grudges."

I stayed in the kitchen long after they left. The lights are flickering in some pattern, four short flickers, one long one.

Why was Karina saying that "the more screaming, the better” thing so seriously? I've heard some people in forums say it that way, but they seem to be joking.

Who is Goliath? Why did Karina act so weird? I don't know.

Maybe I'll find out one day.
