I am someone who really likes art in various forms, and I frequently like to go on the internet to look at what various artists have made, and my starting point... was Twitter of all places... Quite a rough start, a social media platform that allowed for some kind of reach for sharing whatever you want for better or for worse (DEFINITELY worse nowadays)... which also allowed for a number of opportunities to doomscroll and get nothing done due to the anxiety-induced paralysis that follows and a constant need to remain updated on things. Needless to say I am trying to minimize that sort of stuff nowadays, even with Bluesky, and that includes exploring and integrating myself into numerous different websites as intended from the beginning.
Of course nowadays, it's getting more difficult as various legacy sites have either gone under (died a hero), or got bought out and are actively going through enshittification (lived long enough to become the villain), and that includes sites like ArtStation and deviantArt. I watched a video by Izzzyzzz on its rise and downfall a long while back and it really gave me a perspective of what deviantArt used to be like and what it used to mean to some people and it just makes me sad how it's just gotten worse since that video was made. With all that said though, I'm glad that spirit lives on and is actively integrated into Sheezy.Art.
I love browsing through the site every now and then, not just with the art, but with the profiles, the journals, the fun lil features, it's all a blast to go through. Sure the site may be a lil broken in some aspects but what am I expecting this site is still in beta. Actually I heard the site was originally conceived in 2003 according to WikiFur but went into indefinite hiatus due to problems with the files, only to then be revived in 2021 and close again due to too many people signing up, and only recently opening up registrations again in a limited capacity to keep up. Regardless, I'm glad there does exist a new art site that feels like it was made by people and I wish nothing but the best for the developer team making all of this a reality (trust me, i would know, i took a web developer training course for a year and shit ain't easy =/).
