I brought in other birds because I wasn't really sure Pidgeotto would solo, but he did. Albeit with some poisoning. It didn't kill him in battle, and after I presume I had either the Antidote or the Potions to make it to the Center, but it's also been so long I can't remember exactly, just that he didn't die.
