When this was originally drawn, there was a bit of an angsty plot going on involving Vincent and his sister.

He, his sister, and his brother-in-law all went on a hunt together in an effort to deal with a beast that needed to be taken down. In the process, his sister turned into a beast herself. She killed her husband, and Vincent was forced to kill her in turn.

He was the only one to return, and the look on his face told the whole story to my darling Saoirse.

Vincent belongs to a friend, Saoirse belongs to me~
