How many usernames have you had? (You don't have to share them!)
Probably in total-- three? Augs can be elongated to Augiest if Augs is taken, but it's still the same general concept.
What does your current username mean?
Augs is short for Augustine, my sona's name. August is also part of my spiritual name that I share in pagan circles.
What is the first program you used to make digital art?
If I really think back, my first digital program was Corel Painter Essentials on my family's Apple 20" iMac. I eventually bought my own laptop and downloaded Paint Tool SAI and used that religiously for almost a decade.
Where did you first start posting your art?
Neopets (๑˃ᴗ˂)ﻭ
What is the first piece of media you drew fanart for?
I never drew much fanart, mostly OCs, but I remember drawing Blue from Wolf's Rain and Castiel from Supernatural. I also drew my little avatar from Lineplay when that was a thing.
Who was your first self-insert/persona/fursona? What did they mean to you?
My very first sona was a little, nameless, waifish deer with a brown button hat. I didn't connect with her much.
Who is your current self-insert/persona/fursona? How are they different to your first?
My current sona is Augustine ♡ Auggie is everything I want and strive to be. Slow to anger/anxiety, ever calm, spiritually inclined, revering nature and caring deeply for the universe and all in it.
What phases/styles has your art gone through? (e.g. Did you have an anime era, a cartoon style, a watercolour phase?)
I started with an anime style-- following Christopher Hart's books like a Bible. I took art classes where I developed more of a cartoon style that was anime-esque, but followed anatomy a little closer. I then went to University and majored in Arts, where I loved doing realistic portraits in a variety of mediums. I've graduated and returned to a simpler style, what I have today.
What/who do you think has influenced your art style the most?
Coey Kuhn has been a big inspiration for many, many years, both in concept and in style. I had an epiphany in 2022 where I returned to a more wholesome style that I just enjoyed drawing-- nothing forced, just what comes natural.
What/who inspired you to be an artist?
My third grade teacher, Madame Broussard, saw my illustrations and talked my mother into putting me in art classes. She told me she saw potential in me. She lit a spark.
What tools are integral to your current workflow? (e.g. Programs, brushes, references.)
Clip Studio Paint, my Wacom Intuos tablet, mechanical pencil, twistables colored pencil, micron pen fine liners, thin tip sharpie. I have a whole set of MORPHO artist reference books that I am excited to dive into.
What improvements have you made recently?I've returned back to coloring my lineart, which I've always loved the way it completes my art, and I feel my knowledge base on how and where to push anatomy has improved.
What steps would you like to take in the future?
I'd like to dig into those MORPHO books and really get a better grasp on anatomy, fabric folds, and fat distribution. I'd like to work on more animal features, like paws and wings. Backgrounds or even just a little environmental interaction would be a nice touch.
Ok! Done (o_ _)ノ彡☆
