Termites belonging to batches no. 44, no. 87 and no. 249 often suffer from eye-based mutations. Most commonly this manifests as the affected having 3 or 4 eyes, however cases with as many as 6 or as few as 1 are occasionally seen. While most termites with this mutation are pressed into service, the rare eyeless variant is generally culled upon hatching.
