I remember how strict and miserable people were about fan characters back on Deviantart. It was long ago, but still puts a sour taste in my mouth, every time I remember. Straight up demanded people to change characters for their likings or otherwise your character got marked as a 'Mary Sue' or accused you of design theft. Worst case, the people that got attacked left the fandom, because they got scared or were just done with everything happening.

I'm glad that THAT time is long over and THOSE killjoys- who mind you, were unfortunately popular, left the fandom. GOOD RIDDANCE. Y'all scared people away just because you didn't like them and used your followers and fame to continue your disgusting behavior. STAY GONE
