How many usernames have you had? (You don't have to share them!)
i think its seven? i stayed with a few of them for a couple years, but in-between i hopped around a couple times. finding my artist identity and all that
What does your current username mean?
ok so. first off, a boolean is a data type with only two values (usually true or false). boolean errors are generally related to the value being unexpected and not fitting whatever the value binary is. errors in programming and computer science are generally called bugs. i like bugs a lot. in some ways, my current user is about my weird identity and my struggle with fitting into expected roles. in others, its a combination of my interests
What is the first program you used to make digital art?
mspaint
Where did you first start posting your art?
scratch! it was the site i used when i first realized i could post my art online
What is the first piece of media you drew fanart for?
definitely pokemon. i used to trace my pokedex books a lot when i was younger
Who was your first self-insert/persona/fursona? What did they mean to you?
snowstorm! she started as a warrior cat oc named snowheart, but she quickly evolved into a self-insert in my childhood headworld for reasons im still not quite sure about. shes a representation of my younger self now
Who is your current self-insert/persona/fursona? How are they different to your first?
i have three at the moment. dismas is a bit more down to earth, and a closer representation of who i actually am. you could call xem my truesona i guess
boolean/polistes is more self-indulgent, still a closer representation of who i am than snowstorm was but its definitely the one thats a bit more of its own character than just a sona
phosphor started as just a representation of my rw jolly co-op avatar, but now its just my self-insert for rain world lol. its just some venomous slugcat but i love it
What phases/styles has your art gone through? (e.g. Did you have an anime era, a cartoon style, a watercolour phase?)
usual kid doodling, followed by an intense warrior cat and dragon phase where my art influence ended up HEAVILY influenced by those anime-esque late 2000/early 2010 warrior cat animations, then a furry phase where that was all i drew, and now im in an experimental "i do whatever the fuck i want" state
What/who do you think has influenced your art style the most?
definitely the aforementioned art of the late 2000/early 2010 warriors fandom. to this day if i draw a cat my hand tries to default to a style reminiscent of that era. but other than that, probably pokemon if i had to guess
however i do tend to fuck around a lot with my approach to art, so the best answer is literally any artist i ever followed. i tend to study other people's approaches a lot to inform my own artistic choices
What/who inspired you to be an artist?
i mean i always drew, but the big thing that made me realize that i can like. do art "better" was again old warriors fandom. that was the largest reason i started taking my work more seriously and studying art in general. hell, im even pursuing an animation degree bc of warrior cats
What tools are integral to your current workflow? (e.g. Programs, brushes, references.)
clip studio paint and recently pureref. also firefox because i always have like 500 reference tabs open when drawing (hence trying to use pureref more because dear lord does that get hellish to manage)
What improvements have you made recently?
being better about trusting the process and sticking with a piece even if i dont like how it looks during the in-progress stage. the starting used to be the largest roadblock in my art, as i have a perfectionism issue that used to be real fucking bad. its gotten a lot better tho, and ive gotten a lot faster after dealing with it too!
What steps would you like to take in the future?
learning more mediums mainly, ive been primarily a digital artist for so long. nothing wrong with that, but i want to experiment and learn! and with some recent life changes i have access to resources and space i didn't have before. once everythings all settled down, i Really want to learn more about working with clay and pick up sewing. i need to make my ocs real
