In order to become an Ortheon Paladin, you must slay an Etherbeast. It's easiest to slay them in daylight, but harder in the moonlight. However, the most difficult time to slay an Etherbeast is during an Eclipse, where they are at their most powerful.
Durgus is one of very few paladins who have managed such a task.
Because of this, he's gained quite a bit of fame, and with it he has solidified an expectation of heroism that can be quite difficult to maintain. He's something of a political pawn, and looks much older than his true age due to the stress.
Despite it all, he's rather charming and snide with a bit of an ego.
