Mother Knows BestMother Knows Best Kiara followd them, her heart racing with excitment, the other lionesses where leaving, and she could go with them tis time! She made sure to keep her pace not to quick but not too slow- as not to attract unwanted attention. She blended into the small crown walking away from the cave. They were almost near the entrance, approacing the large hole of the old baobab tree... She excited picke up her pace, almost leaping to her freedom... thump The young lioness recoiled, confused, seh know she coukd be a little airheaded sometimes,m but she wasn't stupid enough to jump stratight ahead into the wall, looking up she coudl see the responsible for her fall was- "Zira!" Kiara opened the biggest grin she could "Oh, sorry I just didn't see you there!" JHer smile widen, contrasting with the small panic in her eyes, behind Zira she could see the other lionesses leaving "That's interesting" the leader turned to her "As far a I'm aware, you should be with in the nursery and not... here" "Oh, but I will be there! Just taking a small leave ya'know? I'm just going near the river, I just need some water real quick-" "It's the dry season Kiara. The river is dry. Like the season" The young lioness huffed. By now the huntresses had already left for their duties "Follow me" without waiting for a response Zira turned around. Kiara midlessly followed her to her personal 'cave' a large hole on the interior of the dead tree, in which she lived her entire life. Both lionesses jumped through mounds of dirt and old trunks to reach it. The hole* was comfortabl and secure, surrounded by the storng bard of the once powerfull tree. I wasn't dark solely by the holes patientely carved by small Kiara, when as a cub her curiosity for the outside world grew stornger than her distate for the cold night breeze ZIra laid down, and gently patted the ground near her "Come here" Kiara huffed "Mooommmm Im not a cub anymore!" The older lioness locked eyes with her, wih her aphatetic expression unchange "You are sure acting like one" The young one sighed and took her place near her mother. It felt weird being groomed by her; she was an adult after all, but the warm hug was nice "Why can't I go with them? I'm old enough" "You think yourself so grown up Kiara. You know, children must listen. You know mother knows best" She was gently cleaning her, slowly turning her face away from the entrance of the cave "You let Vitani go" Zira rolled her eyes. It was always the same argument; so predictable "Vitani is older than you" "well" Kiara let go of her embrace "I'm older than when Vitani started! So I should go too" "The world is dangerous Kiara. You can easely hurt yourself. I just don't know what I would do withouth you." The daughter lowered her head "It sounds like you don't care 'bout 'Tani" "That's nonsence. Vitani is the best warrior around here " she rose her head "after me of course. You know that. That's her place" "Then where is mine? I'm tire of being a cubstiter! There's only one cub! And she stays with her mother the entire time!" Kiara got up, raising her voice in frustartion "Will I only leave this stupid termite mound once I'm as old as you-" The golden lioness stopped herself. Of course she had some privilages being the leader's daughter, mainly not having severe punishments, but even her knew when she was in trouble. She screwed up " i- I me-mean... I just want to be useful" She tried smiling out of it again, unsucessuflly Zira got up as well, her body rising up covering the only holes allowing for the sun to enter the room, now bathing the room with darkness, and nothing more than her presence "Very well" Her voice was harsh "You shall accompany Nuka tommorow, before the sun rise.
