So we know that at the end of the second movie Zira is hanging on the edge of the cliff and Kiara is want to rescue her by giving a helping paw. In the original version, the evil lioness can't reach for help and falls to the river.

But in the deleted version it's much darker: Zira stares into Kiara's eyes with a crazy, crooked smile and refuses to accept the help and voluntary jumps into the river. Now it makes sense why is the smile still there on her face in the original movie when she falls - maybe the people who made it were lazy to draw it again, I don't know.
