I wonder if in August the yellow jacketa become more active? I feel like I've seen them a lot recently. They're common in my neighborhood but this year I noticed a very big hive in a tree! They picked a great spot, I barely ever see people or kids down there, I imagine it might be a little windy but they sure don't seem to mind.

Though if I think about it I would bet it's becoming harder to find food? The weather has been warm and dry most of the time. I wonder if there are any late blooming flowers that can live in the shade that I can plant for next year?

Regardless, I'm interested in the hive because I want to see if I can collect the nest in the winter. It's a MASSIVE hive and yellow ja kets don't reuse hives so it would be a PERFECT chance to get a BIG hive. I wonder what the best way to display it in my house would be? Cutting it in half maybe? Anyways, I'll post an update in the winter if I get the chance to collect the hive.
