Dearly beloved first journal,
It just feels good to browse again. I think it's really well organized and full of useful features that are so essential and yet so many other sites are too afraid to implement. It's well-paced in a way that reminds me a lot of early internet art gallery browsing (folks often use deviantart as an example). I'm feelin' that spark again...
Saw some folks say they couldn't get under this because they 'actually like the algorithm of other sites' and that this feels too slow, but I'm sorry I was never an 'ipad kid' so I can't relate, heheh.
IMO, many other sites are way too overwhelming and/or are simply set up for different tasks. Feels like you're being overloaded with random and irrelevant information and you're just expected to care about it, and the irony of people over there who complain about feeling like they're trapped or being pulled in all kinds of directions wondering why they feel unfocused, irrelevant, or out of their own identities, and yet they continue to use sites that run on exploiting those concepts. The content itself is typically a "different clothes same personality" type deal anyways, in that there's a lot of it, but it seems to cater to only a specific kind of person. It's like when you feel alone at a party full of people, ya know?
Anyways, this is a wonderful space. It makes me feel good about posting online again, because of the allowance to take things at your own pace, that you can curate your own experience, and the potential to create and develop specialized communities. Some find the 'emptiness' discouraging, but I find it more encouraging than anything! Isn't it so exciting to be given the opportunity to start out fresh? To not be chained by rigid standards? To have control over how you develop your own community? To not feel rushed about it, either?
I think it's quite lovely. Let's have fun, yeah?
Cheers! -A
