In the event of a confrontation, stay calm; Retreat slowly whilst facing the specimen, make yourself appear tall, and make as much noise as possible!
Yikes! I haven’t been posting for a bit!
I’ve had an absolute disaster of a week following the announcement of a proposed under-16s social media ban here in the UK. This is horrifying news for me, not because I’m under 16 (literally turning 18 this year), but because this’ll probably have me lose access to a LOT more of my accounts if they decide to age gate everything and make them only accessible by sharing my IDs. What a joy. You KNOW it’s bad when I’ve had to resort to getting all of my friends’ PHONE NUMBERS AND EMAIL ADDRESSES.
This is the main reason I haven’t been on here a lot as well. I have emailed support and raised the issue about what Sheezy might have to implement in the event this does go through and the website is once again affected (still not over the “Online Safety Act”), however so far I haven’t heard anything back. The radio silence and no clarity in general is making me too paranoid to post in case everything is lost and it’s all for nothing by (supposedly) spring next year.
You might have noticed my photography account is also gone, although this has nothing to do with that. I’m just posting the exact same pictures on iNaturalist and eBird and I don’t really see a point in giving them any extra crazy stuff… sorry I haven’t been too outspoken about that either:(
I do wonder if anyone else, particularly UK-based users, are feeling the same way as me about this whole thing. I understand that it SEEMS to only be targeting mainstream apps and that more information will be coming in July, but that’s just too long to wait for someone like me who’s often debilitatingly paranoid by everything and very much still wholly unmedicated (/hj).
How do you feel about this? Do you have any alternative platforms in mind for the worst case scenario?
