otherwise known as the 'cookie sheet'! hehe, get it?

this is for the character i posted previously, cookie!

mermaids were a very common and popular mythological figure, often used to in association with various phenomenons and mysteries surrounding the ocean. there was a time when the ocean was considered a mysterious, perilous and unforgiving frontier to left for man to conquer and it took literally thousands of years for humankind to be as comfortable with it as we are. there's still so much we don't understand about the ocean even today, so i wanted to add that element of subtle mystery to the story of twins phantasia with cookie herself.
in this world, i imagine it's not too common to see mermaids so far away from bodies of water so it makes her stand out. despite her being a good person, the simple fact that cookie is unlike anyone else living like land is curious in and of itself.

one tiny note: i chose sharks vs. literally any other sea creature mainly because i was inspired by an artist called Requinoesis. i've been following them on tumblr for years and seeing their colorful and fluffy fantasy-inspired artwork filled with positivity towards sharks was incredibly inspiring to me. i've been wanting to make a shark character of a similar vibe forever because of them.
