i was inspired in making this character after watching hazbin hotel but i also wanted to make something that could be separate from that show's world, something more classic and whimsical, so i made them based on the cheshire cat from alice in wonderland.

with twins phantasia, overall i want to take inspiration from classic fantastical old world vibe like you'd see in woodcut drawings from 100s of years ago, so i'm pulling from myths and stories of those times. demons were among some of the more popular creatures to depict so naturally i should include demons in some way, like duchenne here. i want to be a bit careful about the defination of what a 'demon' is in my world though because back then, typically, there was a very one-sided approach to them. nowadays demons are all the rage of course.

while the most popular depiction of a demon is your typical red horned person, i realized the word 'demon' can just describe just about anything. that's the kind of philosophy i want to use when making my world.
