expand_moreThis is a thought I've had, and it's probably gonna read like a "kids these days" post, but oh well.
In short - I've seen people take being blocked waaay too seriously, and I think it's time to reiterate some points:
- You're gonna be blocked. It's just something that happens. It's not always a reflection of your character - sometimes people just don't like a particular vibe, or aren't interested in interacting with a particular age group, or what have you. It's whatever.
- Even if you WERE blocked because of something you specifically did/said that wasn't okay, take it as a learning opportunity instead of a personal attack.
- At its core, the block function is a safety function. The appropriate amount of access you should have to an account that's blocked you is none at all. Hunting someone down on other platforms, or making alt accounts to bypass that block is getting into harassment territory. Take the L and move on.
- It's not fun being blocked for seemingly no reason, but you're not entitled to an explanation. You can't demand someone tell you why they're blocking you, and again, trying to bypass that block is just getting into harassment territory. (I mean, you can put out a post asking folks tell you why before blocking you if you want, this is something I've seen people do, but there's no real way to enforce it.)
- All this in mind, if you're a member of a platform's development team, you probably shouldn't be blocking 300k of your own userbase by subscribing to a anti-AI blocklist made by some troll. That's just petty.
