Hi RPGmaker forums :33 I'm sano and I've been working a game for the last few weeks. It's still pretty rough around the edges and i only finished like... 45% of the intro so far.
Just writing this so me or someone else can refer to this in the future.
I'm using Firealpaca for art and RPG Maker MV for the actual game.
There's not much to talk about right now, honestly. I'll just yap about character designs for now.
I'm only going to be talking about the technical parts of this (asset making, events, etc.) and nothing story-related since I don't wanna spoil anything. Feel free to ask me about some stuff about the story, though.
Things I need to do:
Complete Intro Cutscenes
Start working on enemy assets and attack animations
Think of new weapon ideas
Right now, I just finished the first part of the intro, a bit of dialogue with me learning how to use animated sprites.
Most of my time working on the intro was just tinkering around and animating sprites. I spent a lot of time on Officer White since he's the protagonist, and we're going to see him the most.
For White's design, I was going for a softer look. I mostly showed this through how rounded the ends of his hair are and how his eyes tend to droop down most of the time. I wanted his appearance to reflect his weak-willed personality.
I think the first concept art I made of him reflects that. Honestly, I was going for Leon Kennedy but way more pathetic.
This is a pretty big contrast compared to another character, Chief Magenta, White's boss.
I wanted her to be this sorta no-nonsense straight-to-the-point character compared to White. I made her design include a lot more sharp edges and made her posture stiffer to show that.
She's in her mid-30s to 40s, but the stress that comes with her job has aged her a little bit. Despite that, I made sure to make her uniform perfect to show how professional she is.
Anyhoo I think that's all I wanna share in this post lol. I hope I actually make progress soon so I get to share what's happening behind the scenes. Next time, I might dive into backgrounds and how to use Orange Overlay.
HEY !!! js letting yall know that im moving my game dev diaries from space.hey to here for archival reasons or smthn... also the usb i use to store the game save got corrupted while i was making the 2nd entry so it'll take a while for the 2nd entry to come out since im learnign how to use orange overlay
