there's a couple different companies who make space ships, in this "NCB" UNIVERSE of mine, but all others are considered cheap knockoffs to the one who has a near-monopoly on the market. the agency that the main characters of this thang are indebted to is a branch of That Company, name still sorta pending. these spaceships allow for instantaneous long-distance travel; Sounds Great, but they're also wildly dangerous. it works by capturing and compacting the time it would take to get somewhere into a time waste canister inside the ship, which MUST be traded out and safely emptied frequently. accidents happen disgustingly often, in which for one reason or another, the time waste can is broken open. side effects of time waste exposure include disorientation, amnesia, migraines, time displacement, etc etc, many more, including Death.

because these spills are so frequent and so yucky-deadly, it's legally mandated that any company that produces and sells spaceships Must have a branch dedicated to cleaning them up, but cleanup doesn't come cheap!! but don't worry, if you're displaced in time or otherwise don't have a way to pay off your debt, you can always contract with the agency! they'll rent out time spill cleanup equipment to get you started paying them back, including a spaceship! :) how nice of them!!!!
