the bible of none of the above !!!

i recently fell back in love with the album american idiot because of its 20th anniversary this year!! this was one of the first albums i ever really got into, it was like one of the first things i saved to my spotify back in 2015 lol but as i’ve been revisiting this album and green day in general (was listening to my Dookie cd on repeat a bit before this) i didn’t realize just how much i used to listen to this album! i practically know the whole thing by heart!! i love this album so much.

For this piece, obviously i went a little literal with the “jesus” of suburbia in this album. i know Jesus in the album is a character, and there’s technically a depiction of him in the music video, i just decided to use Billie Joe Armstrong in this because i think his American Idiot era look is just very iconic and fun to draw as well. i also had this idea listening to the album then realized how perfect using the heart grenade in place of the heart in the iconic Jesus iconography would be so i had to after that. i honestly love this piece lol, i’m very proud of it :] i think i captured Billie Joe pretty well in my style too!
