Advancing from a sidekick role quicker is usually kind of rare. At a minimum its a year long process.

However certain circumstances will allow you to advance faster. Like, being the only hero, after your assigned hero gets incapacitated, to be able to save the city from a possible global crisis is one of them, including pushing your limit to do it.

This is also the first time Coop and DG fully worked together after Felyna gets... well, let's just say, badly "wounded" and indisposed. So this celebration is for both of them.

Unfortunately, while Coop craves respect, he learns that he actually hates the spotlight.
