(I bit of a rushed journal, but I wanted to get this out... even tho it's pretty late...) Today is August 2nd, PMD day, a day to celebrate the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series of games!

PMD is a pokemon rogue like that started on the GBA and had a few entries going to the ds, 3ds, and a remake of the first game for the switch. The gameplay is really fun, maybe not for everyone, but when you get into the flow of running through dungeons, getting items, and battling mons it is really fun. The gameplay is fun, but the story in the games is some of the best of all pokemon games, with joyful moments spent with your partner and towns folk, humorous moments with npcs and antagonist, and tear jerking moments with great climaxes. I don't wanna go into detail with the stories, as I want people that haven't played the games to give them a try, see if they might like it and fall for the series like I have, and while there hasn't been an new entry in years (not counting the remake of the first game) they are still worth playing these old games, especially if you aren't as much of a fan of the mainline games!
As a kid I first got PMD red rescue team and I loved that game, and when PMD Explorers of time (and later on my mother bought explorers of sky) I loved it even more. I've played almost all of the games from then on and became a fan of the series, but those games weren't what made me love the series to this day. You see, I use to use deviantart a lot as a kid, back in the good old days before eclipse, and there were some really talented artist on the site that created art that I still think about to this day. Along with those artist there were deviantart groups for fan made PMD ARPGs with there own lore, storylines, and characters. The first one I heard of was;
PMDUnity
(here is a wayback link to what it use to look like before deviantart ruined groups, PMD-Unity)
and it's group leader and artist
chillysundance
Their art work amazed me back then and inspired me to draw, but I never really participated in PMDU sadly, I lurked as a teen and regret not having tried doing stuff in a group. The group is dead now, but it remains there with member's artwork still there. PMDU wasn't the only group back then and even now there are PMD ARPG groups that exist with amazing artist and fun campaigns with some that are still active to this day! Here a few I know of;
It's a bit sad really, with deviantart being a husk of what it was, groups are smaller than they use to be, not as many people participate in them, and for PMD ARPGs that remains true, but one day, whenever Sheezy gets groups or clubs or whatever, I hope someone makes a PMD ARPG here, or even better the groups on DA come over to sheezy. I want to see more artist using PMD as a vessel to tell stories and make creative designs.
Despite the fact PMD2 managed to be almost as popular as the gen 4 games at the time, the series has fizzled out over the years, with the latest game being the remake of the first game back in 2020, with little a chance for a new title, but even then PMD fans hold strong, they still draw, they interact with the community, hell there's a Rom hacking program called sky temple people use to tell their own stories (or shit post)
It's amazing that a niche sub-community inside of the pokemon fandom could manage to stick around to the present, and it makes me happy seeing people talk about it and draw art, hell, here are a few lovely bits of art from various people over the years;
Oh, also if you like these,
And I have thousands more I could share, but I only have so many words in a journal, so I'll leave it here.
If you're a fan of PMD in any aspect, tell me your story with it in the comments, I love hearing how people found it and what it means to them.
