Haven't shown this one yet, but I wanted to display how I do scales in general. I use a very basic snake scale texture I found years ago. You invert the scales to be black and white with the spacing being the black while the scales are white. Once that's good to go, you can take a bunch of those scales and warp them around the body. Then color select all the white scales and paint your colors into it. It's a bit tricky but it works wonderfully, you can also do this with other patterned objects too. 🐍

You can also hand paint some of the more detailed areas, like the belly and head. Since those are a bit more unique. But trying to do every scale is a menace for the hands. This works as an excellent use case for constant patterns.
