Hi, I’m ExponentMage282! I’m an aspiring artist and video maker (I hate the term “content creator”) from Alabama!
Every night, for the past few nights, I have been dreaming that I’m a pony in Equestria. Sometimes I wake up and still think I’m there.
I miss original YouTube back when their tagline was "Broadcast Yourself". I miss old flash games from Coolmath and Nickelodeon. I miss Club Penguin. I miss it all. There's some things I like about the internet right now, but it feels too mainstream now. SheezyArt has a very early 2010's aesthetic to its' layout and design. Kinda like the original DeviantArt. Reminds me of a simpler time.
Today is MLP: FiM’s 15th anniversary! I remember my experience with the show being that I had first heard of it around 2011-2012. I was a kid back then, and I just brushed it off as “stupid girl crap”. Later, in 2016, I decided to give it a try. I put on the first episode, and I wasn’t impressed. Later on, in 2018, I found a video on YouTube of a girl roleplaying Fluttershy, then I fell deeper in the pony rabbit hole, which led me to rewatching episode 1 again… followed by episode 2… then 3… then 4. Before I knew it, I was hooked! I started going on YouTube and watching fan animations, PMVs, analysis videos, etc. Eventually, in 2019, I told my family I liked MLP. So now I could openly buy pony merch. So that’s my pony story.
Right now, I’m in the MLP and Vocaloid fandoms.
Sometimes I look at other people’s art on here, and I see AMAZING digital art always being shared. Meanwhile, I’m posting hand-drawn artwork of various characters. Sometimes I think “I wish my art looked as good as theirs”. Then I sit back and realize “as long as I’m happy with how my art looks, that’s all that matters. My art isn’t the best, and that’s okay”.
