i draw a lot of final fantasy and furry stuff!
finally trying sheezy.art!
i've been aware of it for a while, but i never really looked into it. i'm really trying to limit my time on social media these days; it's exhausting, i find it hard to keep up with, everything's so quick and erratic, and the algorithms are pretty hostile. i hate that i have to rely on those to actually get anything done. honestly, i'm trying to limit my time there for a variety of reasons, but being an artist on the net right now is disheartening.
you might wonder why i found sheezy.art interesting, given all that.
i've been trying something. imagine a phone; your phone can do a lot of things, right? you can message people, you can call people, but you can also browse the web, listen to music, play games, access banking, order food, etc etc etc the list goes on... this also applies to social media, where you can see art, but also see god knows what else!! that's tiring for a human brain. at least, it is for mine...
recently, i thought about getting an mp3 player. "why?" i think i've become glued to convenience, and i need some inconvenience, some friction, to stay alert. i don't think technology is bad, mind; it's done more good than we give it credit for, i think. if i didn't have technology like we do today, i don't know if i'd be alive, and not in a medical sense! i've met so many good people on the internet. anyway, i don't think modern tech is the devil, but i do think that by consolidating it all into an all-purpose device, it can be detrimental for some people.
this is also how i'm approaching the internet itself now. i'm trying to wean out of stuff like twitter, tumblr and even bluesky; i still use them for posting art, but i don't want to spend too much time there. instead i want to seek out forums and sites like this where the purpose is specific. sheezy.art is for posting and talking about artwork! people might talk about other stuff, but that's its main purpose.
i like it already. it reminds me of trawling deviantart and finding so many cool artists i wanted to be like. i never spend much time on dA, mind you, but it's still reminiscent of that period. i hope that it makes me feel more at ease than the wider socmed web. i also hope that i feel happier about sharing my work :)
