I love a good masquerade fantasy so seeing such a prompt allowing me to go insane, I just went for it

Very much not my usual style. Or rather, I do NOT typically do clean lines or highly detailed outfits (for me, anyways, lol). But this was fun, even if I kind of got this done last minute for the challenge haha

I did a pure black and white originally but decided to try and change things up to see if I could make something out of that palette challenge. The right is the results of that!

Anywaysss. We've Varian wearing a butterfly inspired costume, and Hugo wearing a flora inspired one. I had a blast going crazy with this lol. I imagine this is pretty late into their adventure. They're very much best friends, and Hugo is very much ready to switch sides to no longer betray Varian in the end. I imagine Varian doesn't mean to be so forward, but he's been pining for Hugo for a while now, and acts a little impulsively in the excitement of the masquerade and dancing with Hugo- even if they're technically only there at the masquerade to infiltrate. He lets himself be the mushy romantic he is inside- partially to just play along with the theatrics of their quest here at the ball, but also because he is... enjoying his time with Hugo. He 100% does not realize what he's doing until it's too late to avoid getting pretty flustered
