I've been running a sort of art blog thing on my Ko-Fi page, and I guess I'll start writing some things down here too! Feel free to check it out! (I also update my Sheezy page with the sketches, so keep an eye out for those!)
Today is Day 181 of my Holding Myself Accountable series. I spent around eight hours just doing studies from random books I had. I never used them much, so it was kind of fun. Today was a day off and I had nothing better to do. I started with learning more about three-point perspective. It's not something I use often. Funnily enough, I use curvilinear perspective more. I can't run away from three-point forever, though! There's gonna be a time where I gotta use it!
Once those studies were over with, I got started with How To Draw by Scott Robertson. This book is pretty tough and goes in depth with perspective. It's a lot of fun! I'm kinda happy because I got the book when I was at a level where I couldn't understand it. But now, I kinda know what I'm doing! The challenge keeps me going. It's not too easy, and it allows me to find flaws in my technique that I need to work on. I really began to notice my line confidence being TERRIBLE. I couldn't ghost my lines well, and they were all over the place. That's something else I can improve with time.
Lastly, I opened up Anatomy for Artists: Drawing Form and Pose by Tom Fox. This anatomy book is REALLY cool. It's all about understanding complex, and sometimes obscure, anatomy. Then the fun part comes in... You break it all down into simple forms to be able to construct it from imagination! The mannequins used in the book are a joy to work with, and Fox's notes are incredibly helpful. I've been going through the book on and off for nearly a year now. I'm on the upper body, getting finished with the scapulae. Next up are the clavicles, then the pectoralis minor and major! I kinda ended there because I was getting tired...
So yeah. This has been Day 181. I try to draw something every day. If I miss a day, I just make it up the next day. It's no big deal. I just want to keep the mileage going! Keep drawing and take care!
