How many usernames have you had? (You don't have to share them!)
Gosh, at least 4 main ones i evolved thru? And 10+ misc ones
What does your current username mean?
fowl is bird because I like birds, they're neat (the leaf part elsewhere is bc i like plants)
What is the first program you used to make digital art?
probably gimp 2 on the home computer. didnt do much digital art till highschool tho, and that was mainly using a shitty layerless app
Where did you first start posting your art?
tumblr lmao
but i didnt consistently post art till da
What is the first piece of media you drew fanart for?
whinny the pooh when i was a little child, still getting marbles stuck in vhs tapes
as for "drawing fanart while part of a fandom", id have to say homestuck. unfortunately.
What phases/styles has your art gone through? (e.g. Did you have an anime era, a cartoon style, a watercolour phase?)
kid- child drawing everything phase
elementary- dragons. everything is dragons. there is so much dragon that dragons can dragon. (and dinos too) obsessed w/origami, but terrified of the complex ones bc of how mathmatical they are
late elementary- very badly drawn neopets on everything following the drawing tutorials the site had. also starwars sometimes. making sock plushies. my 1000 page epic oc battle comic that i never finished.
middle- drawing my neopets ocs on everything i can physically draw on without getting in trouble. also a bunch of rendering scales and feathers in realistic styles. some pokemon, beyblade, and mechanical animal thingy stuff too, but not as common
highschool- comic hellscape + arpg hellscape since i needed something mindless. this is also when i started moving to digital, which was a fucking experience since the tablet i got was broken on arrival and i didnt know for years. lots of plushie making too. tbh i legitimately hated my digital art so much during this era bc i could not get enough control over it and my traditional media skills didnt translate. moving to digital was such a painful experience and im glad kids today can much more easily and cheaply go digital if desired. (ol broken is still around btw, used it while my old screentablet was in its death throes. its still just as awful as it used to be and i think it seriously held past me back)
college- arpg hellscape + animation memes. polymer clay sculptures
college (apartment edition)- experimental + furry oc stuff
now- watercolor era resumes! more experiments and stuff. tentatively re-approaching comics in a non-hellscape manner
What/who do you think has influenced your art style the most?
i have a wide array of influences so idk tbh.
neondragon was a huge influence to me as a kid tho bc i was gifted the dragon drawing book one birthday, and i did a total doubletake when i saw flight rising later lol
What/who inspired you to be an artist?
idk, ive been obsessed with drawing for forever man
What tools are integral to your current workflow? (e.g. Programs, brushes, references.)
water bottle, drawing glove, gamepad + joytokey in place of hotkey remote b/c cheaper & more configurable, lots of stretching and breaks, a lamp, going into nature regularly
also pureref for compiling ref imgs
What improvements have you made recently?
finally replaced my broken screentablet with a not broken one that hopefully won't break in 5 years
What steps would you like to take in the future?
making my workspace ergonomic, and making it a more pleasant space to be. sooooo much cleaning and organizing shit to do, need to go to ikea after i finish planning
i miss stampmaking a lot so id like to get organized enough to keep supplies for that on hand
