This is a love letter to my deer plushie I have affectionately been calling Old Friend or "Oldie" (Alter Freund — „Alti"?) for years. He is Steiff's roe deer model „Böcky" from the mid-1970s.

In terms of toys, he's nothing remarkable — I actually don't even actively collect 1970's toys because they're a little to 'modern' for me — but he was the first vintage toy I received from a family member and the one that kicked off my obsession. I still think he's delightful and very handsome. I have an unrelenting soft spot for him, so he's been on display for years.

Deer PNGs are all mine (he and I had a great photoshoot for this drawing) and the newspaper clippings come from the Deutsches Zeitungsportal. They're all newspapers from between 1950 and 1971 that refer to Steiff at some point.
