I had an idea to watch the film Sleepy Hollow. Years gone by when I was walking past the movie on the shelf of Blockbuster. I looked at it and then bypassed it.

Now, I got to watch it.

The movie starts off as Ichabod Crane (Johnny Depp) and he's actaully a constable. Not a school teacher, as told in the original short. Ichabod wants to prove how the men or women died instead of having the judge just say who is guilty or how one died. (Well, it does take place in the late 18th century.)

He is told about Sleepy Hollow and he goes to use his "science" to discover a murderer of beheadings. He meets Katrina (Christina Ricca; everyone is much younger in this '99 film.) He learns the horseman is real. He finds out whoever controls the skull, controls the rider.

Many deaths and soon, after returning the head to the Horseman (Christopher Walken),he geos back to Hell with the original controller.

The film is very creepy, even for one who has never seen it before. It's a murder mystery horror film. I'm not a huge film of murder mystery, drama , crime shows, but this one mixes nicely with the horror, that you forget. When Ichabod does detective, you forget it's a horror. Then the scary parts come up, you forget it's a mystery.

The score (Danny Elfman) is amazing.

I don't know if I wish to watch it again, but I might be tired of it after three times.

The cartoon is cute, but still a bit freaky for children.

The movie is grim and the special effects are crazy good. Thank Tim Burton for that. He loves creepy films.
