The longer he was around people, the worse his insecurities got, and the more he started to crush on Bernard, the more he felt unworthy of Bernard's attention, thinking the latter should hang out with better people than him, though Bernard insisted on spending most of his time with Tim, even as Tim became quieter and more awkward around him.
