Long story short
8 years ago I bought a SoulSilver savefile that was hacked to the brim, in this file there was a shiny Seadra, that I traded over to my diamond savefile in order to evolve him in Kingdra, it stayed there ever since
Past forward 2024 I'm trying to figure out if this Kingdra is legit by checking the met location but the met location now says "met at a far away place", because that's what happen when you trade a pokemon from johto to sinnoh and vice versa.
I can't remember for the life of me if the original met location was Seafoam Islands or Whirl Islands, I just know it was "something islands" for sure, and it has its importance: if this Kingdra was met in the Whirl Islands, it cannot exist and was hacked just like 70% of the rest of the pkmn in that file, period; if it was met at the Seafoam Islands, there's a possibility it is legit because the level it was encounterd (33) match with a encounter slot in that area (the only way to encounter a horsea at level 33 in the entire game is at this location; seadra at level 33 are never possible in this game).

Theorically, if I trade the Kingdra back to Johto, would the met location go back to it's original name or will it stay "a far away place"?? I could pull my games and my consoles right now and do the trade right now but i'll rather ask then go through the whole process and be desappointed lmaoo
i think i already know the answer, the location won't change back very probably, but i'm still gonna ask if there's anyone who ever traded a pkmn from johto to sinnoh then back to johto and cared enough about the met location.
please save me from this nightmare i've spent way too many hours trying to figure out if the shinies from this godforsaken savefile are legit or not, they probably aren't but i won't rest until i have the proof of that!!
