“I’m not a monster I’m not a monster I’m–”

Richard keeps telling himself this he fights to keep his wild urges at bay. He doesn’t know why this is happening, and he’s heard the whispers of what Wiles become if they give in to their wild instincts. His fear of the unknown compels him to curl into a ball and hide himself from the world, his mind spiraling throughout that time.

Since today's gt prompt is despair, I thought I'd dabble with the inner turmoil that Richard faces on the rare instances that he bursts with magical energy. Wile giants like him have multiple stages of ferality, each level making them stronger and better at magic while also causing them to slip into wild behavior the higher up the scale it goes. The highest stage- which is rarely documented- can potentially cause the Wile to go completely berserk. And since Wiles were traditionally the natural enemies of humans and elves... the problem can get worse real fast.

While not drastic, Richard does undergo physical changes when transitioning. So say hi to long-haired Richard.

Present notes: This is an experimental piece that is perhaps one of my favorites of the 2020 gt inktober prompts. While in the main series Richard can never fully transform to his monster form (more on that later), the fear of him potentially falling into a state of no control is eating away at him. Fortunately, such an occurrence is extremely rare, so he's less likely to get more than the long hair side-effect from it. And maybe some literal ruffled feathers x3
