In my universe, Perytons can shapeshift into a secondary form that changes slowly as they experience more gratitude or generosity. This is example art I drew for the site of a Peryton that is 100% in either direction!

Gratitude Perytons become a little spikey (spicy?) and feathered, and often lose their limbs and become snakelike. Generous Perytons gain huge rounded sails and fins across their body.
