They are called Tarogen, and are cosmic dragon-like beings.
they communicate by psychic-projecting their speech to nearby brains, in other words, you can hear them talk in your head.

Tarogen live in groups called Envoys, lead by matriarchs. Every fifty years a random matriarch is born and either replaces an elderly matriarch or starts a new envoy. each matriarch is blessed by the cosmos and will lay a clutch of eggs in intervals of two years, no male mate needed. matriarchs can birth a new matriarch but is not excluded to them.
with these young being genetically different from one another there is very low risk of inbreeding within an envoy, though tarogen envoys will amicably interact with another, occasionally resulting in partnerships between them.
Non-matriarch Tarogen can only breed normally (male x female ) and typically have 2 to 3 young. Any genetic mutations occuring tend to be harsh on quality of life, so mutated Tarogen either dont survive or require a constant companion.

Tarogen can live in any type of environment, their traits and colors tend to reflect their living conditions (e.g. thick fur on mountains, camouflaged coloring in dense forests, etc). they are omnivores and tend to scavenge more than hunt, but their hunting techniques are akin to that of big cats.
Being of human intelligence, they recognize when something is more feral or intelligent, and can respond in either language. In some cosmic way yet not understood, they master any language they come across (some speculate it is to do with their psychic abilities).
