I knew Cosmic (Wayland only) didn't have tablet support (at time of testing, which is already a few months ago), but I didn't realize it was now fully in the DE's wheelhouse. I had to use the command line to disable touch input on my tablet under Cinnamon, which is still using X11 by default, because their settings widget didn't understand the concept, and apparently that's only available as a workaround on X11.
If it's all DE support under Wayland, then choice of DE is really, really going to be decided by which one gives you the features for your tablet. Or you may need to switch to the X11 session, if available.
Article is a year old, so hopefully things are improving. But it's another thing on the pile of things.
