Richard is a Wile giant- a fairly uncommon type that were traditionally featured in old stories as ferocious man-eaters. While there still may be a degree of truth to this, most Wiles are relatively mild mannered even when compared to other kinds of giants such as the Brobdinrags and Bunyans. Despite this, humans and even other giants often lack the courage to see him past his sharp fangs. The same however could not be said of one Jac Fincher, who has been his best friend since high school. The two of them share a special bond that has rarely been observed between a Wile giant and a human, one that makes them nearly inseparable with the added bonus of gifting them both with small amounts of extraordinary powers.

Richard is a busybody who barely has time for antics. While he's considered the straight man of the duo, the Wile giant has a teasing and goofy side to him that he displays only when he's most comfortable. He doesn't have many friends and he considers Jac to be one of the few people he can trust. Jac means the world to him, and his love for her shows no bounds.

He can barely see without his glasses, but he makes up for this with his other sharp senses. Like many of his brethren, Richard doesn't enjoy tapping into his "Wild" side, but that doesn't stop him from falling into that state occasionally. Thankfully Jac can help to calm him down with relative ease.
