Hey, it's been a while hasn't it. Sorry if it seems like I fell off the face of the net the past month, without giving too much away for privacy concerns, there's been so much irritating and nerve wracking stuff going on with my life that I barely have time to write and draw the way I want to. And when I do make time it's usually for more self-indulgent stuff like Pokémon, some of which I'll post on my poke-themed persona soonish. The drive hasn't really been there otherwise as I need to focus on more pressing things irl; I'm a bit reluctant to say I'd go on hiatus outright since I know once this passes my motivation to make oc things will bounce back, so I'll leave it up to "being quiet for a bit until further notice" instead.
This means, for one, I most likely won't be attending artfight this year. Also had plans for this month's sheezy contest but there's no way I can muster up the energy to this time. It's a shame but it is what it is.
That being said, when I have a bit more energy I'll try to be a bit more active here, if merely to like and comment. I want to get into making more journal memes (that new oc one going around looks fun) when I have time to write it down, and I'm thinking about posting the rest of my backlog between my main and alts while I still have vip status in the coming days. So that might be something for you guys to look forward to if you're interested, though I promise not to be too spammy x3
Again, if you read this far thanks. The best thing I can do is to keep my chin up and hope that the rest of the year will be more positive. Hope y'all can look forward to brighter days as well, we all could use some of that right now x3
Firstly, thanks for the 2000+ views on my profile page! Whether folks choose to check on my page for a minute or two, or if they are repeat visitors, I appreciate every one of you ^^
Second, I'm planning to upload a new story in the near future, as well as continue posting my 2021 writing backlog. At the rate I'm going I should be able to wrap these up by the end of April or so. That's if things go according to plan, here's hoping x3
Afterwards I'll likely be focusing on a side project where I'll be playing every generation Pokémon game leading up to the most recent one. I've chronicled some of it on my Pokémon/fanart persona here, where I'll be posting future updates. If there's a particularly interesting or funny in-game event that happens, I may doodle it out. We shall see x3
And that's it for now. Art is still blocking but at least I have writing and Pokémon to look forward to lol. And of course enjoying all the cool art that the sheezy community shares too ^^
I've seen posts online (mainly on the bird site) that suggests that Deviantart may be on its way out. I do think some of it is fearmongering, since the evidence that they bring up is based off of old information (the admittedly awful mobile app was discontinued in 2023 for example). Though the recent download limits are alarming, it's honestly not surprising since they've been steadily locking stuff behind a paywall for some time. They've also made other decisions recently that have been baffling but definitely not surprising considering their previous track record, like discontinuing notes and their site becoming more and more broken with each major update.
That being said, I've actually been in the mindset of DA dying for some time. And with what happened with Amino recently, I can understand the panic. But the signs were showing a while ago, it doesn't necessarily mean that it will disappear randomly one day. At least I don't think so. But this is a great reminder to back up anything that you have on there if you hadn't already, just in case it'll happen sooner or later. It's good practice to have regardless.
Between their increasingly asinine updates and them deleting random accounts due to technical issues, including my own (despite leaving ai art of illegal things untouched and running rampant), I'm ultimately glad I made the move to sheezyart. If (or when) Deviantart does meet its demise, I hope the DA veterans will consider coming here especially once the rebuild rolls out.
I leveled up! Happy birthday to me x3
My bugs are still on the front page (as in the time of writing this). I wasn't expecting my creepy crawlies to be so popular with folks! >w<
But yes, thank you so much for the spotlight! And for the interest in my drawing, I appreciate every fave I get ❤️
Fun fact: I had just gotten a pen for my new tablet a day before I made that drawing, and before long I was having fun experimenting with different brushes and pen strokes during the process. I was experiencing art burnout not long ago, so this wounded up being a boon to my confidence. It's safe to say that I got my flow back (I think), and I have the bugs to thank for it x3 I think I took around 13 hours on it altogether, but it certainly didn't feel like it during the time.
