Randomly I decided to draw this for this site's monthly challenge...which I realize may seem odd, given it is not a picture of an animal. However! I thought this through very carefully! The prompt was just the word "anthropomorphic". They didn't say anything about there having to be animals, technically.
So, this is my gijinka/anthropomorphism of the Yamaha EZ-TP, a discontinued MIDI trumpet from 2004.
I made this character specifically for the purposes of this challenge, so I'd like to explain some of my thought process with her design...However, the word limit is about 2600 words shorter than I remembered it being! I will see if I can find somewhere else to put the full text, but to summarize the important parts:
- Her hat is based on the bell of the trumpet, which conveniently I thought looked vaguely like a pork pie hat or other hats associated with trumpet-containing music genres
- Parts of her design (mainly the cuff on her sleeve with the buttons) are nods to Hatsune Miku, who was actually also based on a Yamaha synthesizer (Her design was based on the DX-100!) I also tried to mimic the artstyle of Miku's original boxart just for fun. I think the hair and face came out well...
- I wasn't sure how the EZ-TP is supposed to be held, because every person I saw holding it held it differently. What I have drawn here is a guess. I don't even own this trumpet I just thought it was funny
I realize this is probably quite far outside the intention of the prompt, but I ended up putting a lot of thought into it and quite like the design, so I hope my annoying semantic loophole is at least kind of funny...! bwaa 🎺
