Constantly in a juggling act between projects, but MAN am I bad at juggling...
At this very moment, the most productive person you know of is worried about how little they're getting done.
You're gonna be okay/gen
Let me clarify! I do not mean signing your images is bad, or working a watermark into an image with intentionality is bad!
I mean having a watermark that a website autopastes on for you, that covers the entire image with gradient colors and text, so you cannot comprehend anything you're looking at, is bad.
Toyhouse does this, and a large majority of users I've come across have this robot-pasted-on-without-any-regard-for-how-it-will-affect-the-image watermark. And just trying to comprehend those images genuinely hurts my eyes a little. Like- I cannot process where your watermark ends and the actual image begins.
And it's easy for the poster not to notice! Because the robot pasted it on for them. They didn't take the time to carefully work the watermark in themselves. User's watermarks are also hidden from them by default, and most users never bother to check how the image looks to everyone else.
And yeah! It's their character and their image and whatever, and it's usually because they're worried about theft. But, if you're so afraid of theft, that you believe the only way to combat that is to make sure nobody can enjoy the image... maybe just don't post it on a public platform at all?? Nobody can see it anyway, so what's the point of giving it to us?
This 14 second video illustrates the point probably more effectively than I can
"It's unwatchable to everyone else"
And, really, the only reason I'm bringing this up is because Artfight recently announced that an onsite watermark system is planned. Now, it's unclear whether they meant for character references, attacks submitted, or both, but, from the way I've seen people use the feature on toyhouse, either one would really suck. Characters with covered refs you cannot actually use or attacks given to you that a robot decided you're not allowed to actually see: pick your poison. Either one would make me really sad.
Am I gonna get bit for putting this into the world? I really don't know, lol. I don't know how strongly people feel about robots doing watermarks for them.
Holy shit, why do I have so many notifications??
OH MY GOD IT FINALLY HAPPENED!! I'VE OFFICIALLY PEAKED!! I CAN STOP MAKING ART NOW!
I always thought if I got spotlighted, I'd miss it being on the banner. Really glad I actually got to see my stupid art up there <3
Thank you!!
To all my American friends out there:
Did you know Elon's "department of government 'efficiency'" fired thousands of members of the Center for Disease Control?
Did you know they fired thousands of park service employees (the people in charge of protecting our national parks, mayhaps the only land in the US not soiled by capitalism?)
Did you know they fired thousands from the department of agriculture, including those working on the diseases effecting chickens and contributing to the egg shortage?
And thousands more jobs just like this!
If this bothers you, I highly encourage you to try my latest and greatest product: ✨💫Harassing your Government Representatives💫✨
No, but seriously. Not to be a downer by bringing politics into people's feeds, but if any of the shit our new overlords are doing is bothering you, please call this number: (202) 224-3121
It's a national switchboard that will connect you with your local senators or representatives after answering a few questions. And you can leave a message telling them how you feel about these things. I know it doesn't sound like jamming up their phone line will do much, but it genuinely makes a difference. Their careers rely on popularity, so you'll be surprised how quickly they bend to a human voice yelling at them.
If you feel powerless, remember we're not. Call your senators. Call your representatives. Take advantage of your government's checks and balances while it still has them. Please let your voice be heard.
Happy New Year! This is your reminder to take a deep breath if you haven't already. We're all gonna be okay.
What's the first thing you did in 2025?? I... played Plants Vs Zombies, of all things.
As an aside, the page doll edit I did for this month is my favorite of all time, omg. Look at him. I was worried that pink would be too bright, but it draws your eyes right to the glasses. I love it so much.
