Kurja society had a whole division of gender roles thing going on. The males had to do military service, while the females were above that, their rank correlating to how powerful their magic was (even if they technically served a military function as a mage).

It took me until I was reuploading this to art sites 13 years later to notice that we have a rather feminine kurja holding a gun and a grenade. Whoops, girls don't join the army! But, in a stroke of luck, they're wearing what appears to be binding tape around the chest. So,

Diversity win! The kurja caught unaware by toxic fumes is a trans man!
