-She met Mateo when she was only 17 and she immediately got pregnant with Pam. As soon as he found out he left Daisy Town without returning
-After the separation with Mateo Elena had to start working elsewhere instead of staying in her parents’ bakery, in order to maintain Pam. So she became a worker in the textile factory of the city, owned by Mr. Wonders (father of Anne and Franci)
