Summer 2024 is when this scroll was supposed to be awarded to a friend of mine. He won a heavy combat tournament and did not receive it during court because the artist who originally volunteered flaked. I was asked to make something for him this year and I’m so honored for the consideration.

Valor 2024 was a landsknecht theme so I wanted to make something inspired by German woodcuts. I referenced the etching “Landsknechte” by Daniel Hopfer in 1530. The entire scroll was done in dip pen and ink and is my first calligraphy project without letter guidelines.
